Mudville| Baby Dragon | This large reptilian creature is about twenty feet long, and is covered
in bright red scales. It has long talons and fangs, and its wingspan is
easily twice its length. A wisp of smoke trails from its mouth as it looks
at you with its glittering black eyes.

| Balthazar | This tall, dark man has glowing red eyes and sharp white teeth. He
is dressed in the finest silks and wears numerous stylish, expensive pieces
of jewelry. There is a palpable aura of evil surrounding him, as well as
one of extreme power
The man named Balthazar looks you up and down with idle interest. After a moment, he stares you straight in the eyes, and you feel yourself being barely able to meet that dire haze. In a voice as cold as stone, he says: "What is your business here, youngling? Did one of my lackeys send you to me for work? Quickly now, before I lose my patience. Believe me when I say you do not want to see that happen." |
| Bandit | This sleazy-looking brigand wears studded leather armor, and wields
a broadsword as if he knows how to use it. He eyes you shiftily and approaches
with a sneer.

| Bandit Leader | Cheap jewelry adorns the ugly form of this tall, well-built man. He
wears a gaudy chain shirt over normal leathers, and carries a curved bastard
sword as a weapon. He sneers contemptuously at anyone he encounters.

| Banshee | This misty apparition appears to be a white-robed woman, her face hidden
by a dark hood. Her translucent form seems to radiate power, and a chill
of fear runs up your spine.
The banshee utters a heart-stopping wail, and reaches for you! |
| Bard Spirit | The transparent image of a half-elven bard stands before you. She wears bright red silks, and carries a golden harp in her hands. The bard spirit greets you with a bow, saying "Welcome young one. Thy travels have brought thee far, to find me in this cursed tomb where I am bound. The dark one was cruel indeed to keep my spirit in this plane after we were vanquished, but even in defeat there can be hope. I have little left to offer, save my experiences fighting the unnamed one. My skill is thine to learn from, and I would gladly train thee to the next level of advancement. One more thing I can offer you: seek the old one in the heart of the darkenwood, he alone lived through the Great Wars, and he alone has mastery enough to provide thee with the necessary learning you shall surely need in the future." |
| Barmaid - Rhudaur | This whorish-looking barmaid wears a sleazy outfit that barely conceals
her feminine charms. She has a stout cudgel at her belt, and she does not
refrain from clubbing anyone who gets on her bad side.
The barmaid smiles at you wearily, and says, "Welcome, traveller. Please look at our list of foods and drinks on sale here. When you are ready to order, just call me over." |
| Barmaid - Silvermere | This pretty barmaid walks around in tight-fitting kitchen garb, a tray
in one hand, and the other free to slap the hands of forward men.
The barmaid smiles at you wearily, and says, "Welcome, traveller. Please look at our list of foods and drinks on sale here. When you are ready to order, just call me over." |
| Barrow Wight | This frightening apparition is completely garbed in what appear to
be gilded ceremonial robes, the kind that nobles and heros are buried in.
In one withered hand it wields a long, glittering silvery dagger and twin
points of red light glow from beneath its darkened hood!
The barrow wight hisses softly, "Join usssss...." |
| Beautiful Woman | This incredibly beautiful woman is a vision of perfection. She wears
long white robes, and has an expression of ultimate serenity and happiness
upon her face. She carries a bowl of delicious-looking fruit about in her
hands.
"Welcome to our oasis, traveler! Please make yourself at home. Our food and drink are yours if you wish them. Here, have some fruit, it will sustain you and replenish your energy!" |
| Behemoth | This massive creature towers above you like a living hill. Its four
short, powerful legs propel its huge body about with surprizing speed.
Thick, sharp tusk-like teeth jut out of its cavernous maw, easily wide
enough to swallow someone whole.

| Behemoth Hellhound | This gargantuan creature is the size of a small hill, its huge black mane reeks of sulphur and death. Two great eyes of fire glare at you, and a small puddle has formed under its mouth. It grins menacingly revealing shockingly white fangs.

| Beholder | This spherical monstrosity levitates about slowly. In the center of
its body a huge, lidless eye stares, emanating an aura of anti-magic in
front of it. Atop it are eight small eyestalks, which swivel about looking
in every direction. Beholders are incredibly dangerous foes.

| Betram | This portly, smiling fellow greets you with a good-natured, booming
welcome. He gestures broadly towards his wares, encouraging you to browse
the merchandise.
The shopkeeper exclaims in a booming voice "Hello, my young friend! Come in to test your mettle in becoming an adventurer, eh? Well, good luck to you! You will surely need some form of protection while you hone your skills, and I have all you need right here! I even have some free armor items for those who don't have the money to spend, just take a look at my STOCK and pick something your size. |
| Bishop | This tall, well-built man is clad in sandals and the simple white robe
of his order. A large silver amulet hangs from around his neck as some
sort of symbol of office. He has dark blue eyes, greying hair and the large
rough hands of a farmer, and he smiles at you warmly.
The bishop greets you with a wan smile, saying, "Welcome, child, it is refreshing to see a friendly face in these troubled times." He sighs wistfully. "Why, even recently in this temple, we have had troubles. Someone actually crept in and stole one of our most precious treasures, the golden chalice of Amilan! How this person, or thing, crept past our holy wards, I do not know, but whoever it was possessed stealth and power beyond any ordinary being. Not even with such aid was this being willing to harm anyone within these walls, however." He pauses for a moment, and then continues, "There was one witness, who reported seeing a black-clad figure running from the temple, heading off to the south... perhaps to the slums. Adventurer, if you would be willing to aid in the retrieval of our sacred chalice, I would reward you with artifacts to aid you!" |
| Black Asp | This deadly serpent reaches nearly six feet in length, and has powerful
jaws that enable it to pierce armor to deliver its poison. It is not truly
evil, but attacks any creature that approaches. It is best to be wary of
this snake.

| Black Dragon | This large reptilian creature is about fifty feet long, and is covered
in shiny black scales. Its wingspan is easily twice its length, and its
teeth and claws could easily rip someone in two with a single swipe. The
dragon appears fully grown, and quite deadly.
The black dragon sneers at you contemptuously. Its anger at your unwelcome intrusion has kindled its considerable fury, and it heaves its massive body towards you! |
| Black Dragon Serpent | This eight-foot-long serpentine creature resembles a coal black anaconda,
except that it has an evil-looking dragon's head. It has long sharp fangs
and short curved horns, and black ichor drips from its mouth, burning holes
in the ground.

| Black Fungus Tree | This large, twisted tree has been completely taken over by some form
of deep violet fungus, which has animated it. It moves slowly about on
thick roots, its limbs creaking and groaning quietly.

| Black Orc | This tall, menacing-looking orc stands with uncharacteristic discipline.
He wears black chainmail armor, and wields a heavy sword.

| Black Orc Boss | This huge, poweful orc has skin as black as night, and glowing red
eyes that burn with evil intensity. Clutched in one hand is a heavy serrated
scimitar, and a long shirt of black chainmail protects him.
The black orc boss grins ferociously, and in a voice like grinding stone intones, "Sawtooth will hack and rend your limbs to make meat for the troop!" |
| Black Orc Captain | This tall, powerfully built orc has jet black skin and glowing red
eyes. He wears glittering black chainmail, and wields a heavy scimitar.
His evil grin exposes his sharp yellow fangs.

| Black Orc Shaman | This brutal-looking figure is garbed in a rough brown robe. Glowing
red eyes peer at you from the depths of its hood, and it waves its clawed
hands about in mystical patterns. An evil aura emanates from this creature

| Black Pudding | This large, quivering blob oozes about at an astonishing rate, considering
it has no legs! It leaves a trail of corrosive acid behind it, and consumes
anything it comes in contact with

| Blood Hawk | This innocent enough looking golden-brown hawk moves through the air with the grace of an angel. Light glistens off a few feathers on the far tips of the blood hawks wings and it lets out a soul curdling call as it begins to droop towards you. |
| Bloodbear | The deadly bloodbear is named for its ability to sense strife and agression,
which enrages and attracts it. When it feels these emotions nearby, it
enters a berserker rage, and races to where the sensations are coming from
to slay indiscriminately.

| Blue Dragon Serpent | This eight-foot-long serpentine creature resembles and azure-hued anaconda,
except that it has an evil-looking dragon's head. It has long sharp fangs
and short curved horns, and small sparks of electricity jump from it occasionally.

| Boatman | This gnarled, weaselly-looking man has stringy gray hair and watery
green eyes. He is garbed in a shapeless robe that once might have been
a shade of blue, and his bony, calloused feet are bare and tanned. He grins
at you with an insane, lop-sided leer
The boatman says "Well, what do ya want now? I suppose ye'll be wantin' to use o' of me SKIFFs thar, now that this ruin's been found on the ol' island thar in the middle o' the river." He looks you up and down appraisingly. "You look wealthy enough," he says, "so I'm sure ye'll be able ta afford the five gold piece CHARGE I'll be wantin' fer use of me BOATS." The boatman grins slyly up at you, and spits to the side. |
| Bodyguard | This powerfully-built dwarf wears heavy mail and wields a broad axe.
He says nothing, but appears constantly on guard for any threat to his
master.

| Bola Spider | This thin, long-legged spider is covered in many spiky black hairs.
Its dull yellow skin is thick and leathery, and its clusters of glittering
eyes glow softly. Sharp fangs jut out from its mouth at odd angles.

| Bombardier Beetle | This four-foot-long beetle has a dull green carapace, long spindly
legs and a strange set of tubelike organs protruding from its behind. Its
mandibles are fairly large, and could cause serious damage.

| Bone Warrior | A dull green glow emanates from the eye sockets of this long since dead warrior. No flesh appears upon the undead to show the scars of battles past. Deep gouges in some of the bones surrounding vital areas are evidence that their death was not timely. |
| Bounty Hunter | This man is garbed in well-worn chainmail, and a broad sword hangs on his back. His skin is tanned and rough, and covered in many small scars. He appears experienced and when he looks you up and down, you get the impression that he is evaluating your abilities. |
| Brain Eater | This small, hideous demon is no larger than a toad. It is covered in slimy red skin, and has four crooked legs that end in razor-sharp claws the size of daggers. It slits a person's head open and climbs in, then controlling the corpse with uncanny skill. |
| Brigand | This cloaked, hooded figure wields a drawn longsword and wears full
leather armor. It gestures to you impatiently, seemingly waiting for you
to hand over your valuables.

| Brine Hag | This creature appears to be a wretched old woman with blackened teeth and back bent like a shepherds crook. Wearing a well worn black robe she picks her way along the reef cackling in glee upon sighting the carcass of any animal and stomping on others small enough to crush. |
