In that case, you might find some use in purchasing one of my lovely lamps, or, if money is a little tight, I could afford to give you some torches for free." |
| Death Dog | This appears to be an ordinary, if somewhat large, reddish-brown mastiff.
As you look closer though, you see that it has no eyes, just bony hollows.
It seems to move around using only its sense of smell, as it sniffs about
continually.

| Devourer | This gigantic glowing worm emanates huge amounts of heat. It has no eyes and senses by the vibrations it feels through its forty-foot long body. The most noticeable thing about this worm is the great maw it has including the superheating appendate around its mouth. |
| Dhelvanen | This tall, intense-looking man is garbed in deep blue robes with silvery
stitching. His long brown hair is shot through with grey. He is calm and
composed, and has a gling of vast experience in his eye. He could be a
valuable ally, or a dangerous opponent.

| Dire Wolf | This huge wolf stands nearly four feet in height, and is covered in
a glossy grey pelt. Its red eyes glare at you visciously, and it bares
its fangs and growls spitefully.

of glowing green eyes and spiked tentacles growing from its shoulders.

| Dragon Hatchling | This large reptilian creature is about twelve feet long, and is covered
in bright orange scales. It has long talons and fangs, and its wingspan
is easily twice its length. A wisp of smoke trails from its mouth as it

| Dragonfish | The dragonfish is widely known as one of the most vicious freshwater
predators. Though it is not huge, its razor-sharp teeth, incredible speed,
and burning steam breath make it a terrible foe. Dragonfish are thought
to be the result of a mad wizard's experiments.

body of a giant spider. It is armed with a shortsword, and the numerous

The dark one was cruel indeed to keep my spirit in this plane after we were vanquished, but even in defeat there can be hope. I have little left to offer, save my experiences fighting the unnamed one. My skill is thine to learn from, and I would gladly train thee to the next level of advancement. One more thing I can offer you: seek the old one in the heart of the darkenwood, he alone lived through the Great Wars, and he alone has mastery enough to provide thee with the necessary learning you shall surely need in the future." |

pewter tankard in one hand, and a link of sausages in the other. He is
quite angry, probably at being thrown out of every bar in town, and is

he is! The dwarf wears fine robes, underneath which the glint of chainmail
can be seen, and at his side is a broad axe.
The dwarven merchant looks you over suspiciously, but after a moment his eyeslight up at the prospect of a paying customer. "Greetings, traveler," he says, "I be the traveling merchant Gorthuk. Many fine wares I bring from yon mountain stronghold, the likes of which have not been seen in these parts since olden times! Now that the barricade has been blown asunder by the gnomish inventors, trade between the peoples of mount Khazarad and Silvermere can once again continue." |

spread out like a spiderweb from the dwarven city. He is grungy and somewhat
antisocial, which makes him perfect for a miner's life. In one hand he

The pharaoh turns his head to one side-- a supreme effort that obviously causes him major pain. You lean closer as he whispers something barely audible: "Dao... fled. Enter... portal... hurry! Close... soon." "Finally... free..." |
