| Rakshasha Sage | This frightening creature stands nearly seven feet tall, and greatly
ressembles a bipedal tiger. It appears old and decrepit, and one of its
eyes is covered by a gilded leather patch. Ancient Rakshasha are usually
just as fierce as the young, as they have nothing to lose.

| Ranger Spirit | Before you stands the image of a leather-clad elf, shrouded in a cloak
which makes her barely invisible. A long blade and ash bow hang from her
back. Her long blonde hair is done up in many small braids which cascade
down her shoulders, and she looks you over cooly.
The ranger spirit greets you with a bow, saying "Welcome young one. Thy travels have brought thee far, to find me in this cursed tomb where I am bound. The dark one was cruel indeed to keep my spirit in this plane after we were vanquished, but even in defeat there can be hope. I have little left to offer, save my experiences fighting the unnamed one. My skill is thine to learn from, and I would gladly train thee to the next level of advancement. One more thing I can offer you: seek the old one in the heart of the darkenwood, he alone lived through the Great Wars, and he alone has mastery enough to provide thee with the necessary learning you shall surely need in the future." |
| Rayth | This gnarled old man has seen so much sun that he is as brown as a
nut. His frazzled white hair sticks up at all angles, and his faded grey
robes are covered in obscure sigils and runes. He looks up sharply as you
approach, but then breaks into a large grin.
The old man grins toothlessly at you, saying "Eh? What was that? You said something? Well, it doesn't matter anyway, if ye be looking for spells of some sort, this is the place. Browse through that pile of scrolls for yerself and bring me what you like, my poor tired eyes won't stand the strain." You have some trouble believing that last statement, for you note that he turns his attentions back to a large book in his lap as he finishes talking to you. No doubt he is simply exercising the privileges of old age in letting the young ones do all the work. |
| Red Demonling | Ancient lore tells you this monster is a servant to the darkest magic, summoned through evil rites. It is colored read as blood, and seems to be dripping some type if ichor, its claws and fangs are razor sharp. Its tail ends in a stinger and it looks at you.

| Red Dragon Serpent | This eight-foot-long serpentine creature resembles a blood-colored
anaconda, except that it has an evil-looking dragon's head. It has long
sharp fangs and short curved horns, and wisps of smoke and licks of flame
shoot from its mouth.

| Red Slime | This is a small crimson blob of protoplasm, which moves about with
a sickening slurping sound. Waving about in the air are thin tendrils,
which radiate a heat that makes the air shimmer.

| River Ray | This graceful creature glides through the shallow water with practiced ease. A deep gray hide covers the top surface, providing good protection from would be predators. A small, coiled tail trails the creature, with what looks to be small barbs on the end of it.

| Roc #1 | This giant birdlike creature resembles a huge two headed buzzard, aside from its white downy feathers. It has a twenty foot wingspan, and its enormous claws hold razor sharp talons. |
| Roc #2 | This titanic creature ressembles a vulture, but of incredible size. Its wingspan must be at least a hundred feet wide, its beak as long as a canoe and razor-sharp. Each talon is as long as a human is tall. Luckily it is huge enough that it ignores most small folk. |
| Roc Hatchling | This small three foot tall bird appears to be freshly hatched, as it still has its eyes closed. It is small, and quite awkward, yet its beak appears to be razor sharp. |
| Rock Eater | This strange rocky creature looks a little reptilian, but has stony
grey skin. It walks on four short legs, and has a broad flat head with
small black eyes. It peacefully chews on rocks with its wide mouth.

| Rotting Monstrosity | This hunched, rancid beast is roughly centauroid in shape, with four thick stumpy legs and a squat head. Its four arms each end in a two-foot long bone blade, which appears razor-sharp. All over its body are oozing pustules and sores, and a foul stench puffs out from it. |
| Rotworm | This long, fat worm is a nauseauting phlegm-yellow in color, and reeks
of rot and filth. Black ropy veins can be seen pulsating beneath its thin
skin, and its oversized mouth is filled with long, needle-like teeth.

| Royal Guard | This powerfully-built dwarf wears plate mail and wields a broad axe.
His horned helm is inlaid with a single rune of mithril, which gleams brightly
in the light. He is the cream of the crop of the king's dwarven warriors,
and is a match for most lesser adversaries. The dwarf looks you up and down carefully, and gives you a curt nod. |
| Royal Soldier | This tall, mail-Armoured soldier carries an iron-bound shield and sharpened
longsword at his side. His tabard proudly displays the purple-and-gold
eagle crest of the kingdom. He stands at attention, carefully scanning
the area for all intruders.

| Ruby Guardian | It is hard to say whether this embodiment of ruby gems is man or monster, but it looks just as fearsome. Finely cut gems are somehow kept together by some force, and the eyes of the guardian seem to gaze at you, searching for something. |
