Kotar Speaks

In the Obsidian Passage, near the Adult She-Dragon is a new Non-Playing Character, Kotar Bloodthorn. Check out the Map. You will need a Magma Amulet to access this area, and a source of light. Gather up the hides that drop, then take them to Kotar. He can make you some cool red dragon hide items out of them. Beware.. if you don't have all the goods and ask him to make the items, he will take your hides and give you nothing. Here's what he has to say:

Greet Kotar:
Kotar sets his carving down and looks you up and down a moment. "Ahhh, an adventurer from Silvermere I suppose?. Well, well, I haven't heard of someone traveling these caverns since the Great Dhelvanen. You must be a rare person indeed". He snickers at that last comment a little and then continues. "I hope my protectors didn't give you any trouble. They're only here to guard this place from the occasional wandering dragon. Speaking of which, hides of dragons can make some fine leathers. I've found that they not only push the limits of protection, but also that of durability." That said, he brushes a hair from his tunic.

Ask Kotar Silvermere:
A bead of sweat forms on Kotar's brow as he talks, "Yes, I used to be a servant to Silvermere. I scouted the most wonderous and dangerous places as I dared. Part of it was the excitement of travel, but the other was to expand Silvermere's influence. I explored the hills of the west, the metal forests of the north, and the desert to the east. In fact, I was the person who negotiated with King Kulgar to bring the barricade down. However, those days are gone and past, and I am paying for my mistake every minute." Those last bitter words bring a tear to his eye. It's obvious he misses the past.

Ask Kotar Mistake:
Kotar composes himself and pulls his cloak around him tighter, "Yes, soon after the barricade in the Darkwood Forest came down King Kulgar was assassinated. Although the killer was not found, the blame fell onto my shoulders because I had convinced the dwarven kingdom to allow strangers into their realm. I was then banished from Khazarad, and for political reasons I was also banished from Silvermere. After I had fled from my first home, Silvermere was the only other place where I felt accepted." With a sigh Kotar pulls a circular blade and begins to polish it.

Ask Kotar Home:
"As you can see, I am a dark-elf. Before I left the Queens castle, I was fourth in command over her troops. My specialty was to organize the guerilla raiding on the gnomes. But soon a dark emissary started to visit the castle regularly, and my assignments changed. The queen ordered me to capture citizens from the town of Silvermere. I argued with her for hours, to rethink her plans. It was at that point that I knew she had gone insane with power. That night I slipped through the dank caverns of my home and never looked back."

Ask Kotar Dhelvanen:
Kotar nods as he rolls a shaved piece of wood through his fingers, his mood brightens when you mention the name. "Dhelvanen is a great friend of mine. I discovered his misfortunes after leaving Silvermere. We talked for a great many hours. I told him of the current news, and of my travels, and he shared with me his misfortunes and studies. To this day I still get information for him in hopes to free him from his prison. He repays me by creating wards or little trinkets that I can use. This blue tarp ,for instance, was one of Dhelvanens gifts. It not only keeps this room cool, but it hides my location from the mother dragon who also inhabits this lair."

Ask Kotar Protectors:
Kotar smiles to himself, "The men who protect this place were all under my command at one time. I have saved each of their lives at one time or another. Many of them found themselves caught in a well concealed trap by a crafty gnome. They have all sworn to protect me with their lives, I suggest you stray from pestering them."

Ask Kotar Dragon:
Kotar chuckles lightly, "Yes, sometimes a foolish young dragon wanders away from the nest and is greeted by my guards. Which suits me fine, because their hides are of great quality, and their mother makes many of them for me." Kotar breaks into a broad laugh, "I do love perfecting my tailoring practice, and I haven't found a better place to get materials." The end of his laugh turns into an evil grin. "While Dhelvanen and I share a hatred for the creatures, I am one of the few who can avenge him."

Ask Kotar Leathers:
Kotar points to the filled racks around the tent, "All of those were done by my hand. Most are of these small dragons, but a few are from rarer creatures. If theres anything you want me to fashion for you, don't be afraid to ask."

Ask Kotar Fashion:  Kotar grabs a tailoring kit from beneath his chair, "Indeed, I can fashion many different things. The materials for the red dragonscale whip are rather simple for such a fine weapon. However, acquiring the pieces for dragonhide armour will require a little more time. Just ask me for their prices, if you're interested."

Ask Kotar Red Dragonscale Whip:
"I need three main pieces for the whip. A tail from a dragon, a fang from a dragon, and a barbed whip. Bring these three things to me, along with 1 Runic, and I will make the whip."

Ask Kotar Prices:
"These are the prices for my services, and what materials you will need to bring me."

dragon hide leggings 30 80 platinum
dragon hide gauntlets 10 60 platinum
