If you are looking for a small, friendly non-pvp board that has a great connection, set your sights on Advanced Cutting Edge BBS, or ACE BBS. This Southern California based board has been through a few changes in recent years, but has remained a solid family board that can be enjoyed by players of all levels. The board has an intimate, cozy feel, with around 15-20 accounts on most of the time. Members are allowed one dupe. The recent installation of the experience patch has sparked some interest lately, bringing back some faces that had been scarce in recent months.
The website has no real information at this time, though it is under construction. The connection was relatively lag-free, though like almost all boards, there was some intermittent lag. Nothing so serious as to consider not playing here.
The game has a 2 playing sysops as well as a Mudop. From all observations, they are there to keep the game going, and do not interfere with it at all. The regular players do not have sys goto or sys map keys.
In addition to Major MUD, ACE also has a fairly lively group that plays LORD and even a few souls who indulge in Tradewars. Rates for this little-known BBS are a modest $9.95 a month. While it seems high with the glut of 5 dollar and free boards, you also have to consider the stability and longevity of this service. The fee also seems to keep out the more disruptive element, allowing the members to enjoy their game. Payment can be made via online Check/Credit card, or you can also snail mail checks and money orders to them.
