Intimate, small, quiet.... Castle Rock is one of the undiscovered boards on the net, and they like it that way. With an average of a dozen citizens of the realm, you will still find help, weapons, quests, and chatter. Most of the players are students or younger adults (25 or under), and there are no language restrictions here. This game last reset in February, 1999. As of March 20, 2001, the top 10 ranges from 1.4 billion to 117 million. This is also a non-pvp realm.
The website has been recently redone, and has some pretty cool information on computers in general. They do take PayPal (kgoebel@inwave.com is the account name), and telnet membership is $5.00/month. You also have a choice of a credit-based account, or dial-up account. The trial period is 10 days of full access, and they do require email validation.
The board itself is undergoing some upgrades, and connections have been quite laggy lately. The Sysop does promise this will be taken care of soon. Neatly laid out, with attractive ANSI graphics, this is one of the few boards that does have members who play other games such as Crosswordz, Yahtzee, and BBSopoly. It is also one of the very few to still have dial-up connections for those in the Janesville, Wisconsin area (near Madison).
