Mud Dweller BBS

Telnet address: mud.muddweller.com or just muddweller.com (both work)

Mudop: Slash
Non-Pvp
Pay

If you are looking for a mid-sized realm that is very newbie friendly, this board deserves serious consideration. The realm is non-pvp, and does permit 1 duplicate account. The realm does have its quiet moments, but there is usually someone near the keys. Kids play here as well as adults, and both groups seem to get along just fine. This is one of the few places where someone can ask, "What is ts?" and get a polite answer! The top ten ranges from just under a billion to 237 million as of March 20, 2001. While it seems steep, the realm has a pretty good record of sharing the goodies and helping with quests and death-pile recovery. The game last reset in October 1999.

The website is a must-see before you just dive right in. The rules of the realm are neatly laid out, as are the different classes available. There is some basic game information, and links available for other info sites and script download areas. The Sysop has commissioned new information pages - watch for that neat feature in the near future. New accounts are given 30 days of full access, 24 hours a day to check the board out - plenty of time to decide if you like it or not. The website also has a link to PayPal for your convenience.

The connection is rarely laggy, and the BBS itself is very nicely presented. Getting into the game is very easy, and it is one of the faster connections from actual logon to being in the game. There is a playing Mudop, but the Sysop himself does not play the game. The board also has Tradewars, but most players seem to hang out in MajorMud - no surprize here. On the downside, payments are not always posted as soon as they are received - plan ahead. The Sysop advises that email coming from out of state is taking 10-14 days for him to receive. He strongly recommends PayPal (sysop@muddweller.com) as you get your time faster and they support both checking accounts and credit cards.
