There are a number of utility files that greatly enhance the pleasure of the game. Scripts are the among the most controversial. These programs allow players to play the game without being right at the keyboard, with new ones being developed all the time. We also have found several database viewers, which let the users see the statistics on items, monsters, and other information, directly from a copy of the games database files.
MegaMud - The latest script from Merlin of Mudwalk fame, and certainly the best around. This program requires Windows 95 or NT. Fully featured, hot, new... one you should definitely try out if you are looking for a new utility. Use the link for the latest version, some FAQs, links, and custom paths.
SpawnWalk - After Mudwalk, and before MegaMud, we have SpawnWalk. This is based on Merlin's original Mudwalk scripts, but improved and updated and it picks up where Merlin left off. It still requires Telix 3.22 or better like Mudwalk. It is offered here as an updated alternative to Mudwalk for those who do not have, or cannot install Windows 95. Please direct all bug reports, comments, and accolades to the author, Spawn of Elysium in Melbourne, Australia.
The Original Mudwalk - This runs under Telix for DOS, Version
3.22 or later. Once you learn how to set your script, you are on
your way. This uses simple text-file paths that you can create yourself,
or use the ones that come with the scripts.

Luminous - this is the latest version of the Luminous DOS Terminal from Edge of The Boink Board, with a lot of great features, like auto-heal. Be sure to read the documentation on this one to see how to use all the options available. He says not to look for many more improvements to this one, as he is working on several other projects. No matter.. this is still a great alternative.
Davis Script for QModem - long a favorite among the players.

One of the best things to come along in the last year has been MMEdit from Locke Cole. Not just a database viewer, it is also an editor and a mapper. Click here for more information and downloads of this hot, new utility.
An oldie, but one that you can customize
with current information is the MajorMud Database,
from the High
Clerist.
